DNA Sample Collection Begins from Relatives of Missing Persons Affected by Bhote Koshi-Trishuli Floods

In Chitwan, the process of collecting DNA samples from the closest relatives of individuals missing due to floods has commenced. Various bodies have been found primarily in the Trishuli and Narayani rivers as a result of the flooding. However, most of these bodies remain unidentified, and since they cannot be preserved for long periods, authorities have initiated DNA sample collection to ensure proper identification and safe burial.

DNA samples are being collected from relatives to compare with that of the deceased in order to identify missing persons. This procedure is expected to facilitate the identification of individuals who remain unaccounted for following the floods.
