Nepal Cricket Team Returns Home After Winning ACC Premier Cup

The Nepalese cricket team, having defeated the UAE by 44 runs to win the ACC Premier Cup in Malaysia, returned home on Sunday night. The team was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Secretary Paras Khadka and others, along with the trophy. Captain Sandeep Lamichhane was named the tournament’s most valuable player, and the team is now set to travel to Japan for the Asian Games.

Kathmandu, 28 Bhadra — The Nepal cricket team returned home on Sunday after claiming the ACC Premier Cup title. The team secured the trophy and qualification for the Asia Cup by defeating the UAE in Saturday’s final held in Malaysia. The squad arrived in Nepal in the evening and was warmly received at Tribhuvan International Airport by CAN Secretary Paras Khadka and officials, along with the championship trophy.

The final match, played at Malaysia’s Bayuemas Oval ground, saw Nepal overpowering the UAE by 44 runs. Nepal’s captain Sandeep Lamichhane earned the accolade of the tournament’s best player. Speaking to the media at the airport, Sandeep credited the team’s success to everyone’s hard work. “We are all very happy; despite the country’s challenging situation, we performed well and qualified for the Asia Cup. This is something to be very proud of,” he said.

The Nepalese team will depart for Japan in the coming days to participate in the Asian Games.
