India Wins Women’s Asia Cup but Refuses to Receive Trophy

India defeated Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 to claim the title, but the team refused to accept the trophy from ACC President Mohsin Naqvi. Although Naqvi briefly appeared on the field, the Indian team neither accepted the trophy nor received their medals as there was no agreement on the BCCI’s proposal. India’s head coach Amol Muzumdar expressed the team’s solidarity with the BCCI’s decision. He said, “For us, the competition is over. We are the Asia Cup champions, and that is enough. Our focus now will be on the Asian Games.” ACC President Naqvi is also the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Last year, India similarly refused to accept the trophy after winning the men’s Asia Cup.
