
Supreme Court Concludes Hearing on Opposition to Amendment of Ravi Lamichhane’s Case
The Supreme Court has concluded the hearing on the case challenging the amendment related to Ravi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party. The hearing took place before a bench comprising Justices Vinod Sharma and Abdul Aziz Muslim.
Former Attorney General Savita Bhandari had instructed the District Government Attorney’s offices to amend the cases against Lamichhane. Kathmandu, Chaitra 15.
The session began with senior advocate Ramankumar Shrestha, who is also a former Attorney General, representing Lamichhane. Following his arguments, the petitioners presented their counterarguments. “The hearing is over; the justices are now deliberating,” said Supreme Court spokesperson Arjunprasad Koirala.
Outgoing Attorney General Savita Bhandari Baral had directed the District Government Attorney’s offices to amend the cases involving organized crime and money laundering registered against Lamichhane in the district courts of Kathmandu, Kaski, Parsa, and Rupandehi. Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, law student Ayush Badal, and Sindhuli’s Yuvraj Paudel filed a writ petition challenging Bhandari’s decision.
On Poush 30 last year, Bhandari had directed the concerned District Government Attorney’s offices through official correspondence to pursue only the cooperative fraud case against Lamichhane.
