Rakep Secretary Mehta to Be Absent from Asian Games
Ramcharitra Mehta, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council (Rakep), will not be attending the 20th Asian Games in Japan. He has decided to skip the trip in order to focus on preparations for the 10th National Games. According to Mehta, the decision on who will be sent as the chief of mission is yet to be finalized.
Kathmandu, September 17. Earlier, there was an agreement for Member Secretary Mehta to be sent to Japan as the chief of mission. However, he stated, “If I go to Japan, it will mean delaying the 10th National Games. Spending 15-20 days in Japan could result in the Games not taking place on schedule. The work for the 10th National Games cannot progress without the presence of the Member Secretary. Therefore, even if I do not go to Japan, the sports events will be organized. However, it is possible that the 10th National Games may not be held on time.”
Meanwhile, it has also been reported that Education and Sports Minister Sasmit Pokharel, who was supposed to travel to Japan, is also considering not going.
