Shreyas Iyer Breaks Into Top 10 of ICC T20I Batting Rankings

October 7, Kathmandu – Shreyas Iyer, captain of the Indian T20I cricket team, has secured a spot in the top 10 of the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20I batting rankings. Iyer advanced seven places, reaching the 7th position following his impressive performances. After leading India to a gold medal at the Asian Games, Iyer continued his fine form in the first T20I against West Indies.

Chasing a target of 172 in Lucknow, India lost two wickets for 35 runs within four overs. Iyer then steadied the innings alongside Ishan Kishan, showcasing aggressive batting by scoring an unbeaten 100 runs off 42 balls. After the match, a fatigued Iyer expressed confidence in his ability to perform even better in the shorter format. He stated, “If India maintains this mindset, we can become one of the most aggressive teams in T20I cricket.” Leading the batting rankings is Ishan Kishan from India, followed by Abhishek Sharma in second place. Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan holds third spot, England’s Harry Brook is fourth, and Jos Buttler is fifth.
