
Tribhuvan Army Club Secures PM Cup Title
Tribhuvan Army Club claimed the title at the PM Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament held in Birgunj by defeating Sudurpashchim Province in the final. The Army remained undefeated throughout the competition, winning 8 out of 9 league matches. Chasing a target of 161 runs set by Sudurpashchim, Army players Imran Sheikh remained unbeaten with 46 runs and Basir Ahmad contributed 45 runs. April 17, Kathmandu.
The Army emerged victorious in the PM Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament while remaining unbeaten. In the final held on Friday in Birgunj, they defeated Sudurpashchim Province to win the title for the third time. The Army successfully chased down the target of 162 runs in 34.3 overs, losing 5 wickets. Imran Sheikh remained unbeaten on 46 runs, with Basir Ahmad adding 45. After losing 4 wickets for 56 runs, Basir and Imran stabilized the innings with a solid partnership.
For Sudurpashchim, Hemant Dhami took 2 wickets, while Sher Mall, Ashok Dhami, and Bikash Agri each claimed 1 wicket. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Sudurpashchim were bowled out for 161 runs in 39.4 overs. Despite failures from the top and middle order, the lower order batters showed composure. Ashok Dhami scored the highest with 43 runs, supported by Kiran Thagunna’s 25 and Narayan Joshi’s 29. Akash Chand and Shahab Alam from the Army took 3 wickets each, Basir Ahmad took 2, and Kushal Mall took 1 wicket.
The Army remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. In the league phase, they shared points in one match and won the other 8 out of 9 matches. Sudurpashchim reached the final for the first time after winning 6 out of 9 matches. The Army had previously shared the title with Nepal Police Club in the inaugural edition in 2017 and also won the title in 2021. Having reached the final in every edition, the Army have finished as runners-up five times. Nepal Police Club has won the title 4 times, while APF Club has secured it twice.
