With the ongoing conflict between Iran, the US, and Israel now in its third week, President Donald Trump’s administration has initiated serious discussions to deploy thousands of additional US troops to the Middle East.

According to Reuters, the White House is considering deploying ‘ground forces’ to bolster ‘Operation Epic Fury’ and maintain control over strategic Iranian regions.

The primary objective of this potential military deployment is to ensure the safe passage of oil tankers carrying 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports through Kharg Island and the Strait of Hormuz.

Military experts suggest that maintaining control over Kharg Island is economically and strategically more advantageous than destroying it, although the operation carries significant risks.

Additionally, there are ongoing discussions to deploy US special forces to secure Iran’s large stockpiles of highly enriched uranium.

Since the conflict began on February 28, the US has conducted more than 7,800 airstrikes, destroying over 120 Iranian naval vessels.

So far, 13 American soldiers have lost their lives, and around 200 others have been wounded in the conflict. Despite President Trump’s campaign promise to keep the US out of foreign wars, he has not ruled out the option of deploying ground troops to completely eliminate Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities and potential nuclear weapons.
