Supreme Court Rejects Petition Filed Against Ravi Lamichhane

The Supreme Court has refused to register a petition filed against Ravi Lamichhane. The court administration issued a “Darpith” order, meaning a refusal to register, regarding the petition submitted by Ayush Badal. Badal is allowed to file a fresh petition against the administration’s decision in the Supreme Court. Kathmandu, 8 Baisakh.

The Supreme Court administration declined to register the petition submitted against Ravi Lamichhane by issuing a darpith order. This order effectively rejected Badal’s petition. However, he can still file another petition in the Supreme Court challenging the administration’s decision. If a single-judge bench of the Supreme Court hears this new petition and revokes the darpith order, the court administration will then be required to register the petition. The petition sought to prohibit Rashtriya Swatantra Party Chairman Ravi Lamichhane, who is facing money laundering allegations, from performing his duties as a Member of Parliament.
