April 22, Birgunj – Birgunj Metropolitan City is rapidly advancing the development of B.P. Park into an organized greenery park aimed at enhancing the city’s beauty and improving the environment.
Long plagued by disorder and encroachment, the park area is now targeted for transformation into a clean, open, and attractive public space.
Currently, soil filling, land leveling, and regular irrigation are underway in the park. According to the municipality, the next phase will involve planting grass, various types of flowers, and vegetation, along with systematic greenery management. This is expected to make the park naturally beautiful and eco-friendly.
Mayor Rajeshman Singh emphasized that this project is not merely about park construction but a campaign to elevate the overall living standards of the city.
He explained that B.P. Park is envisioned to become a modern, clean, and well-organized greenery park.
This development will not only enhance the city’s aesthetics but also provide residents with a clean environment and open spaces for relaxation.
He added that the park will play a vital role in temperature regulation, pollution reduction, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.

The municipality has plans to construct pedestrian pathways, resting areas, flower gardens, and organized greenery sections within the park.
Additionally, the old railway track area located on the northern side of the park will be utilized to establish a railway museum. The municipality is preparing to import an old train engine from Janakpur for exhibition to reflect the area’s historical significance.

Previously, traders had encroached upon the park area to conduct their businesses. As an alternative arrangement, these traders have been relocated to an agricultural market established at the railway road area in Chhapkaiya. This has helped to fully open and organize the park space.
The municipality has also undertaken tree plantation drives in the Birgunj customs area to expand the city’s greenery.
Once completed, the transformation of B.P. Park into a greenery park is expected to enhance urban beauty, promote environmental conservation, and boost local tourism in Birgunj.
