New Feature Enables Seamless Data Transfer Through Collaboration with AirDrop

Android has released significant updates to make file sharing and device switching processes easier and more secure for its users. To reduce the hassle of exchanging files between Android and iPhone users, Android’s ‘Quick Share’ has been enhanced to function similarly to Apple’s ‘AirDrop.’ This feature will initially be available on Pixel phones and will be expanded later this year to devices from partner companies such as Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor. Even if your device does not support this feature natively, you can still generate a QR code via Quick Share to transfer files to an iPhone through the cloud. The rollout began today and is expected to reach all Android phones within the next month.

Moreover, Google is preparing to integrate Quick Share functionality into popular apps like WhatsApp. The collaboration with Apple has also led to a complete refinement of the process for switching from iPhone to Android. Users will now be able to transfer passwords, photos, messages, contacts, favorite apps, and even their home screen layouts wirelessly. This process will also support ‘eSIM’ transfers, initially available on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices. From a security perspective, this update is considered highly significant. Considering that an average of 2.5 billion RCS messages are sent daily, Google plans to implement ‘end-to-end encryption’ for RCS messages exchanged between Android and iOS devices.
