Ramkrishna Shrestha Elected Secretary General of South Asian Weightlifting Federation

Ramkrishna Shrestha, president of the Nepal Weightlifting Association, has been elected as the Secretary General of the South Asian Weightlifting Federation at the general assembly held in Gandhinagar, India. Shrestha, who also serves as the Secretary of the Nepal Olympic Committee, has expressed his commitment to utilizing this role to advance the development of weightlifting in Nepal.

The general assembly elected Dr. Sahadev Yadav of India as the president, who is also the president of the India Weightlifting Federation. Additionally, Ibrahim Hamid from the Maldives was selected as the first vice president, and Sanka Ratnayake of Sri Lanka was appointed vice president. Following his election as Secretary General, Shrestha reaffirmed his dedication to focusing on the growth of Nepalese weightlifting.

He stated, “I will strive to explore as many opportunities as possible for Nepalese weightlifting. Currently, I have proposed hosting the second South Asian Weightlifting Championship in Nepal, a proposal that has received unanimous support.”
