Nepal Super League Announces Fourth Season with New Format
The fourth season of the Nepal Super League (NSL) is scheduled to commence from Bhadra 20 (September 5) with a home-and-away format using a double round-robin system, organizers announced. They plan to increase the number of teams from 10 to 12 and will implement a revenue-sharing model, dividing earnings equally between the organizers and the clubs.
Education and Sports Minister Sashmit Pokharel stated that the NSL will help elevate Nepalese football to new heights. Meanwhile, the president of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) extended best wishes for a successful tournament.
With ambitious goals, Nepal’s only franchise football league, the Nepal Super League (NSL), officially announced its fourth season during a press conference held by the organizer, Nepal Sports and Event Management (NSEM), in Kathmandu on Sunday. Director Shreyansh Karki shared that detailed information about the league, which will start on September 5, will be provided in the coming days.
The press conference primarily highlighted three key announcements: the season dates, the use of a double round-robin system, and the expansion of participating teams. However, other important details remain unclear, including how the NSL’s approximately four to five months of operations will be coordinated with the schedule of the Martyrs’ Memorial A-Division League and provincial Gold Cup tournaments.
The organizers also revealed a 50-50 revenue-sharing arrangement between themselves and the clubs. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Education and Sports Minister Sashmit Pokharel, National Sports Council Member Secretary Ram Charitra Mehta, and the minister’s advisor Siddhi Byanjankar.
