7th Jestha, Kathmandu – The third section of the ring road expansion project has been completed, and vehicles have started running on the newly widened road.

The expansion stretches about 700 meters from Narayngopal Chowk to the Chappal Factory. The contract for this section was awarded in Falgun 2081 BS, and it has been widened to an 8-lane carriageway.

This project, costing approximately NPR 24 crores, is funded by the Nepalese government. Additionally, the government is planning to widen the road further from the Chappal Factory to Gopikrishna Bridge under the same funding source.

The entire ring road measures 27 kilometers in length and is being expanded in multiple phases.

The first section, covering 11 kilometers from Koteshwor to Kalanki, was completed in 2075 BS.

The second section from Kalanki to Basundhara is planned to be constructed with assistance from the Chinese government; however, work on that section is currently in the preparatory stage.
