The Group A match took place at the Dasarath Rangasala Covered Hall in Tripureshwor. Nepal began strongly by winning the opening set, but India gained momentum by securing the next two sets.
Nepal fought back in the fourth set to force a decisive fifth set. However, India claimed the final set and match 3-2, with a final scoreline of 21-25, 25-20, 25-19, 21-25, 15-9.
Nepal had an early advantage on home ground, winning the first set 25-21, but was unable to maintain that momentum.
Despite India initially leading in the opening set, Nepal, energized by local supporters, leveled at 13-13 and then took the lead to secure the set.
In the second set, India bounced back with a 25-20 win to equalize the match 1-1. Although Nepal started strong, India consistently accumulated points, taking the lead early. Nepal managed to tie at 10-10 but couldn’t sustain the momentum thereafter.
Nepal showed particular weaknesses in reception and defense during the second set. India continued their dominance by winning the third set 25-19, gaining a two-set lead as Nepal underperformed in that set.
In the fourth set, Nepal regained composure and built early leads at 5-2, 9-5, 12-8, and 15-12. India leveled the score at 16-16, but Nepal responded with a three-point streak to go up 19-16.
Although India called a timeout and added one more point, Nepal further extended their lead to 22-17, eventually taking the set 25-21 and pushing the match to a fifth set.
The decisive final set was closely contested with scores tied at 5-5, but Nepal could not sustain the challenge, and India sealed the set and match with a 15-9 win.
Following this result, India earned 2 points in the standings while Nepal secured 1 point.
