Four Girls Drown to Death in Mahottari

May 22, Jaleshwar (Mahottari) – Four young girls have tragically died by drowning in Mahottari district. According to the District Police Office, three girls drowned in the river at Manraasiswa Municipality-7, Sarpallo village, while another girl drowned in Goshala Municipality-4, Rajkhor village on Friday.

The deceased girls from Sarpallo village include 12-year-old Snehakumari and 6-year-old Shivanikumari, daughters of Birendra Bhandari, along with 12-year-old Afsana Khatun, daughter of Ajiz Nadaf. The three girls had gone to bathe at the confluence of the Ankushi and Jangha rivers today afternoon. They slipped and drowned while bathing.

In a separate incident, two-year-old Deepika Kumari, daughter of Naresh Mahto from Rajkhor village in Goshala-4, drowned in stagnant water near her home in a field.

The bodies of all four girls have been sent to the Provincial Hospital in Jaleshwar for post-mortem examination. –National News Agency
