Maker Spaces and Tech Labs Inaugurated in Two Schools of Bara

May 22, Kathmandu – Maker spaces and tech labs have been inaugurated in two schools in Bara district. The facilities established at Bhola Secondary School in Mahagadhimai and Jan Samudayik Secondary School have been developed as interactive learning centers. These labs were set up under the Inspire Project, implemented by Save the Children with support from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), aiming to provide students with hands-on learning opportunities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) subjects.
“These spaces offer students direct engagement with digital learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics,” said KOICA Director Muhyun Kong. “This helps them understand the role of technology and digital tools in the learning process.”
A technology demonstration program was also held involving students and organizations related to technology. Various practical projects, ranging from simple robots to digital designs, were showcased during the event. Hundreds of students from seven schools interacted with organizations such as the Robotics Association of Nepal, Karkhana Group, and Smart Cheli during the interactive technology exhibition.
The program featured demonstrations of robots, circuit models, hologram art, STEAM-related learning kits, and drones. It also included knowledge exchange sessions with experts. Ayush Shrestha Joshi, Program Development, Quality, and Impact Director at Save the Children, stated that maker and tech spaces empower children through technology and innovative thinking to find solutions to challenges faced by their schools, homes, communities, and country.
