In Thori Rural Municipality of Parsa, youth have raised concerns about ongoing Nepal Telecom network issues and submitted a memorandum to the regional office of Nepal Telecom in Birgunj, urging for a long-term resolution. The team, led by social activist Dhir Singh Ghimire, handed the memorandum to Regional Director Sribhadra Ghimire at the Birgunj office. The memorandum highlights that during even minor rainfall, Nepal Telecom’s mobile network completely fails, leaving local citizens without phone, internet, and other communication services.
Although a Nepal Telecom tower was built nearly a decade ago, there has been no significant improvement in service quality. Activist Ghimire expressed that over twenty thousand people in Thori are directly affected. Due to network issues, daily life, business activities, education, banking transactions, online services, and emergency situations have all been disrupted. Locals are demanding immediate technical studies, permanent solutions, equipment upgrades, and the installation of additional towers as needed. As the Thori area is developing as a tourist destination, weak network service is sending negative signals. Through the memorandum, residents have appealed for reliable and high-quality communication services. The team led by youth activist Ghimire included Madhav Basnet, Hira Shrestha, Himal Kuwar, Rajkumar Koirala, among others.
