
Nepal Oil Corporation Earns NPR 1.364 Billion Profit in Fiscal Year 2078/79, Meanwhile NewaNiko Faces Over NPR 100 Million Loss
Among government enterprises, Nepal Oil Corporation reported the highest net profit last fiscal year, earning NPR 1.364 billion. In fiscal year 2081/82, the total net profit of public enterprises increased by 12.03 percent, reaching NPR 4.50849 billion. Out of the 45 operating public enterprises, 27 recorded profits while 16 incurred losses. Government investment in these enterprises has surpassed NPR 798 billion.
May 26, Kathmandu – Among government-invested institutions, Nepal Oil Corporation has led in profitability by generating a net profit of NPR 1.364 billion during the previous fiscal year. According to the Annual Review of Public Enterprises 2083, out of 45 operating public enterprises, 27 were profitable, 16 faced losses, and 2 did not submit financial statements. In comparison, in the previous fiscal year 2080/81, 28 enterprises were profitable and 15 were in loss, with 2 also not submitting their financial reports.
According to the Public Debt Management Office, by the end of fiscal year 2081/82, the total government investment in public enterprises reached NPR 798.5635 billion, representing a 13.44 percent increase compared to the previous fiscal year when the investment stood at NPR 703.9388 billion. Government share capital in enterprises rose by 1.48 percent to NPR 370.2519 billion, while debt investment increased by 26.32 percent to NPR 428.3115 billion, as reported by the Ministry of Finance. Notably, 81.73 percent of the total debt investment is concentrated in the Nepal Electricity Authority. In fiscal year 2081/82, the total shareholder equity fund reached NPR 1,073.2831 billion, marking a 3.89 percent increase over the prior fiscal year.
