Husband Kills Wife in Bhaktapur

May 21, Kathmandu – A woman was murdered near the Army Barracks on Chhaling Road, Ward No. 10, Bhaktapur Municipality, Bhaktapur. Salina Tolange Bishwakarma, 33, a resident of Nanglebhare, Ward No. 6, Shankharapur Municipality, Kathmandu, who had been living behind the Army Barracks, was killed. The perpetrator is her husband, Vidur Bishwakarma, 38, who has been arrested by the police. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prakash Jabegu of the Bhaktapur District Police Office, Vidur attacked Salina with a kukri amid a domestic dispute around 7:45 PM on Wednesday. Salina died at the scene.

The couple’s eight-year-old son was also injured by the kukri while trying to intervene in the parents’ fight, authorities said. He received treatment at Bhaktapur Hospital and has since been discharged. The child is currently being cared for in the child-friendly cell at the Bhaktapur Police Office. A team led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Surya Bahadur Khadka and investigation officers was dispatched to the crime scene. The Bhaktapur Police have confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway.
