Lumbini Province Claims Title at 5th National Wadoryu Karate Championship

Lumbini Province secured the championship title at the 5th National Wadoryu Karate Championship, winning a total of four gold medals. Ankita Limbu from Koshi Province was named Best Male Player, while Anu Moktan from Madhesh Province was declared Best Female Player. Ramcharitra Mehta, Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council, along with others, awarded the winning players and teams. The event took place on June 8 in Kathmandu.

Organized by the Nepal Wadoryu Karate-Do Association, the competition saw Lumbini Province top the medal tally with 4 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze medals. Koshi Province finished second with 3 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals, while Madhesh Province secured the third position with 3 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

The Best Male Player award went to Ankita Limbu of Koshi Province, who won gold in the 60 kg weight category. The Best Female Player title was awarded to Anu Moktan of Madhesh Province, who secured gold in the 50 kg weight category. The awards ceremony featured the presence of notable dignitaries including Ramcharitra Mehta, Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council; Ganesh Karki, President of Gojurio Karate; Ram Shrestha, Secretary of the Nepal Olympic Committee; and Harisharan KC, President of the Wadoryu Karate-Do Association.

Players from seven provinces across the country participated in the competition. According to Purushottam Pokharel, treasurer of the organizing committee, the event plays a crucial role in promoting the development of karate at the national level, enhancing players’ skills, and identifying emerging talent.
