Google Upgrades NotebookLM to Gemini 3.5, AI Can Now Generate Documents and Charts from the Internet

Google has rolled out an update to its AI research and note-taking tool, NotebookLM, launching operations on the new main model, Gemini 3.5. This latest version allows users to interact directly via chat without uploading files and download content in various formats. Currently, these features are available to ‘Google AI Ultra’ users and Workspace Business customers.

The update strengthens software capabilities based on Google’s ‘Antigravity’ technology. It empowers users to conduct deeper, more comprehensive research and create files in multiple formats. Users can exchange information about any new project directly in the chat interface, leveraging Google Search and research capabilities to suggest relevant data from diverse sources.

This new functionality helps users easily identify primary sources in multiple languages and find new related content from authors. Previously, NotebookLM users had to upload documents or sources they wanted to work on, but now they can generate the needed materials in their preferred formats through detailed instructions.

NotebookLM currently supports exporting various file types, including PNG, SVG, PDF, DOCX, Markdown, Text files, as well as CSV, JSON, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint files. According to Google, these features are available to ‘Google AI Ultra’ users and Workspace Business customers with AI Ultra and AI Expanded access. There are plans to gradually make the service available to general users in the near future.
