The separatist sentiment seeking to break away from the federal governments is rapidly growing in several US states and parts of Canada. According to a report published in The New York Times, preparations are underway in various regions to establish independent nations. The Seattle-based organization ‘Cascadia Democratic Action’ is organizing a referendum in Washington and Oregon states. They aim to create an independent country called ‘Cascadia’ if relations with the federal government do not improve by 2028. Likewise, active independence advocates in Texas and California are also amplifying their calls for autonomy. This movement is not limited to the US; it has begun to emerge in Canada as well, where residents of Alberta are preparing to vote on secession from Canada this upcoming October.
