Germany Defeats Debutant Curacao 7–1 in FIFA World Cup 2026 Opener

Germany secured a commanding 7–1 victory over debutant Curacao in the opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Levano Comenencia scored Curacao’s historic first-ever World Cup goal against the former champions. Germany netted three goals in the first half and four more in the second.

May 31, Kathmandu – Four-time world champion Germany comfortably defeated debutant Curacao 7-1 in the opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Group E match, held at Houston Stadium in the United States, saw the Caribbean nation Curacao score their first-ever World Cup goal despite conceding a heavy defeat against the former champions.

For Germany, Kai Havertz scored twice, while Felix Nmecha, Nico Schlotterbeck, Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown, and Denis Undav each contributed a goal. Captain Joshua Kimmich provided two assists. Nmecha opened the scoring as early as the sixth minute, giving Germany an early lead and putting continuous pressure on Curacao.

However, Levano Comenencia brought Curacao level in the 21st minute with a goal, marking Curacao’s historic first-ever World Cup goal in their debut tournament against four-time world champions Germany. Germany will next face Ivory Coast, while Curacao will compete against Ecuador.
