One Child Dies and Another Missing After Monsoon Flood Sweeps Two Students in Pyuthan

June 16, Pyuthan – Two children returning from school in Pyuthan were swept away by a monsoon flood. Authorities have confirmed the death of one child, while the other remains missing.

The incident occurred in Kanthe, Ward No. 5 of Naubahinī Rural Municipality, where local resident Yambahadur Khatri’s two sons, Bimal and Milan, were caught in the flood while coming home from school. Bimal’s body was recovered at the scene, but Milan is still missing, according to local resident Mahesh Thapa. Search efforts are ongoing.

Bimal was enrolled in Grade 1, and Milan was in Grade 3. Thapa explained that the sudden heavy rainfall triggered the flood that swept the two brothers away. Further details of the incident are yet to be confirmed.
