Apple Introduces New Wallet and Maps Features in iOS 27
Apple has released new features for Wallet and Maps with iOS 27, including the ability to split restaurant bills by taking a photo. The update also enhances the 3D view in Apple Maps and adds temporary location-sharing capabilities to the Find My app. July 22, Kathmandu – Apple has rolled out new Wallet and Maps functionalities in iOS 27. Among the additions is a feature that allows users to split restaurant bills simply by capturing a photo. These innovations focus on everyday apps and services.
The Flyover feature in Apple Maps has undergone significant improvements. Users can now enjoy smoother 3D views that provide more detailed visuals of cities and popular landmarks. Apple has also introduced the Local Lists feature, which helps users discover and save trending restaurants and attractions directly within the Maps app. In the Find My app, new controls for location sharing have been added, allowing users to share their location for specific durations like minutes, hours, or days, with the option to temporarily pause location sharing for the entire day if needed.
Several important enhancements have been made to Apple Wallet. Users can now scan receipts using the iPhone’s camera to facilitate bill splitting. Apple’s intelligence will automatically calculate items, tax, and tips. Payments can be sent and received via Apple Cash. Physical membership and loyalty cards can be securely stored digitally within Wallet, and this feature is also available on the Apple Watch Smart Stack. Hotel guests can unlock rooms, access travel details, and receive real-time updates directly through the Wallet app.
Apple Music’s Lyrics Translation feature now supports seven additional languages. The Lyrics Pronunciation feature aids users in singing songs in unfamiliar languages. The Automix feature has been extended to Apple TV and HomePod devices. Apple Podcasts now includes an In-Show Search feature that allows users to search within specific podcast episodes. All these features are currently available for testing through the Apple Developer Program.
