Madhesh Chief Minister Receives Memorandum from Youth Activists Over Exclusion of Youth Programs in Budget
June 22, Janakpurdham – Youth activists have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Madhesh, expressing their concern over the exclusion of youth-related programs and budget allocations in the fiscal year 2083/84 budget of the Madhesh government. A delegation led by youth activist Md. Naeem Rain visited the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers’ office, urging for the inclusion of a youth-friendly budget before the budget is approved by the Provincial Assembly’s Red Book.
The memorandum highlighted that despite youth constituting a major portion of Madhesh Province’s total population, no budget was allocated for the Youth Division under the Ministry of Sports and Social Welfare. While policies and programs prioritize youth, activists noted the lack of reflection of this priority in the budget and called for immediate correction.
The youth demanded that the Red Book be amended to allocate a separate budget for the Youth Division and youth-focused programs; the approval and implementation of the Provincial Youth Policy; the formation of a Provincial Youth Council; and the initiation of programs on leadership development, entrepreneurship, innovation, volunteerism, and social transformation. Activist Naeem Rain, while submitting the memorandum, appealed to the government not to jeopardize the future of the youth.
In response, Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav acknowledged the seriousness of the government regarding the issues raised by the youth. He assured that efforts will be made for necessary coordination and amendments prior to the budget approval.
