Organiser of World Cup Viewing Event Killed in Israeli Attack in Gaza

An individual who had organised an event to watch the World Cup matches in Gaza was killed in an Israeli attack. Mohammad Al-Wahidi had arranged for the collective live broadcast viewing of the World Cup games. He had facilitated viewing of the live broadcast of the match between Argentina and Egypt on July 7. However, he was killed a few hours before the game started. He died in a missile strike on the taxi he was riding in. Al-Wahidi was also a humanitarian aid officer coordinating food assistance and managing a camp for displaced people in Gaza.

Three other people were also killed in the same attack. Among them were two brothers aged eight and ten. The Israeli military stated that it was targeting Hamas operatives, but acknowledged awareness of claims that unrelated individuals had been killed in the attack.
