June 30, Kathmandu – The Nepal wrestling team is set to depart for India on Thursday to begin overseas preparation for the 20th Asian Games scheduled to be held in Japan.

The male team members include Suresh Chunara (74 kg), Ramkishor Yadav (65 kg), Nikhilraj Patel (86 kg), and Raj Yadav (125 kg). Female wrestlers are Sushila Chand (62 kg) and Shivangi Duve (57 kg).

The training camp will be conducted in New Delhi, India, from July 17 to September 15.

The team’s coaching and management staff include Coach Rajendra Chand, Manager Khagendra Bahadur Basnet, and Assistant Manager Mumtaz Ali.

During their roughly 45-day stay, the wrestlers will train at various academies in New Delhi and Nandninagar, Uttar Pradesh, according to Nepal Wrestling Association President Prakash Kumar Kusari.

The Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) bid farewell to the wrestling team during a ceremony held on Tuesday.

NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha and General Secretary Rajiv Shrestha extended their best wishes to the team at the event. NOC Secretary Bhim Gurung and Nepal Wrestling Association President Prakash Kumar Kusari were also present.

Jeevan Ram Shrestha emphasized the importance of this training camp, urging athletes and coaches to concentrate fully on their preparation in order to excel at the forthcoming Asian Games.

The 20th Asian Games will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 3 to 18. According to Kusari, the team will travel directly from India to Japan.
