
Nepal Suffers Second Consecutive Defeat, Loses to Sri Lanka in Fifth Set
Nepal faced a 3–2 set defeat against Sri Lanka in the ongoing CAVB Men’s Volleyball Championship held in Islamabad, Pakistan. Despite losing the first set 25–18, Nepal secured victories in the second and third sets with scores of 25–21 and 25–19 respectively. However, Nepal could not maintain their 9–8 lead in the decisive fifth set, ultimately succumbing to Sri Lanka 10–15 and marking their second consecutive loss.
On July 23 in Kathmandu, Nepal experienced back-to-back defeats in the CAVB Men’s Volleyball Championship. In the match held in Islamabad, Nepal lost to Sri Lanka by 3–2 sets. After dropping the first set 25–18, Nepal bounced back to win the second set 25–21 and the third set 25–19. However, they lost the fourth set 25–21, pushing the match into a fifth and final set. In the fifth set, Nepal was unable to sustain a 9–8 lead and ultimately lost 10–15.
Earlier on Wednesday, Nepal also lost to Kazakhstan in a fifth set contest. Despite these consecutive losses, Nepal managed to earn 2 points. This victory marked Sri Lanka’s first win in the tournament, bringing their total to 3 points from 2 matches. The championship features six nations from Central Asia, with all teams competing against one another. The top four teams will advance to the semifinals.
