Manpower Entrepreneurs Give Government 15-Day Ultimatum to Address Demands

The Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association has issued a 15-day ultimatum to the government to address their demands. The association’s president, Dik Bahadur Khatri, has warned of a strong protest if the government does not facilitate easier pathways for foreign employment. Following action taken by the department against manpower companies, dissatisfied entrepreneurs have begun strategizing pressure tactics against the government. Kathmandu, 7th Saun.

In a special meeting, Khatri stated, “If the government does not make the process for foreign employment smoother, entrepreneurs and workers will join forces to launch a strong movement.” The unrest among entrepreneurs escalated after the Department of Foreign Employment penalized 598 manpower companies for sending workers to other countries via Indian airports. The entrepreneurs are demanding the withdrawal of these penalties and improved treatment toward their sector.

Khatri emphasized, “The government must understand the country’s real challenges and regulate the foreign employment sector effectively.” He warned that all workers currently in the final stages of foreign employment must be dispatched within the next 15 days, after which they will commence stringent protests. Although the association will not immediately engage in protests, they have announced the beginning of strategic preparations.

The association plans to start strategic actions from the following day, applying pressure on the government through media outlets, forming regional committees as needed, and conveying their demands from the grassroots level up to the parliament and government. Khatri added, “If the government ignores the entrepreneurs’ demands, the workers themselves will take to the streets.” He also urged entrepreneurs to unify and remain prepared.
