Nepal Set to Clash with Pakistan Today in Volleyball Championship

In the ongoing Kaba Men’s Volleyball Championship in Islamabad, Pakistan, Nepal is scheduled to face the host nation today. The match will take place at the Garrison Jinnah Sports Complex in Islamabad, starting at 5:45 PM Nepal Standard Time. Both teams have lost two matches so far in the tournament, with Nepal positioned sixth with 2 points, while undefeated Pakistan leads the standings with 6 points.

Nepal will be competing against Pakistan for the third time in this tournament. Originally, the match was scheduled for 4:15 PM, but the organizers have announced a change in timing due to Friday prayers. On the same day, other matches include Uzbekistan vs. Sri Lanka in the opening game and Bangladesh vs. Kazakhstan in the second match.

Pakistan secured the top spot by winning their first two matches consecutively, accumulating 6 points. Nepal, on the other hand, lost both initial matches after going to the full five sets. They opened the tournament with a 3-2 set loss to Kazakhstan and were also defeated by Sri Lanka in the fifth set.

Following the loss to Sri Lanka, Nepal dropped to 87th place in the FIVB world rankings. Pakistan, with two straight wins, improved to 45th place. Among Asian teams, Pakistan ranks ninth and Nepal 21st. This championship, recognized by the FIVB world ranking system, included Nepal after their first match. The tournament features six Central Asian nations, with all teams playing each other in a round-robin format; the top four teams will advance to the semifinals.
