March 25, Kathmandu – The process to issue permits for spring season mountaineering has commenced. According to the Department of Tourism, as of Wednesday, a total of 82 climbers from 10 groups have been granted permits.

The department reports that permits have been issued from March 1 through Wednesday. During this period, the majority of permits have been issued for ascents of Annapurna I, where 22 climbers from 3 groups have received approval.

At Ama Dablam, 20 climbers across 2 groups have obtained permits. This season, a significant number of climbers are expected to attempt Everest; however, as of Wednesday, no permits have yet been issued for Everest. According to the department, royalties amounting to NPR 18.4 million have been collected based on the permits issued so far.
