Following the arrests of KP Sharma Oli and Ramesh Lekhak, all police units across the country have been placed on “high alert,” Nepal Police spokesperson Abinarayan Kafle informed the public.

“Everyone, including citizens and political parties, has the responsibility to uphold the law, maintain peace, security, and public order. Therefore, this legal procedure must be respected by all,” stated spokesperson Kafle.

According to the first decision taken during Friday’s cabinet meeting, a Study Committee on Security Agencies will be formed to implement the report of the inquiry commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki. This committee will move forward based on its proposals, and other agencies have been directed to promptly implement the commission’s recommendations, as announced by government spokesperson Minister Sasmit Pokharel.

Regarding whether additional arrests beyond Oli and Lekhak are planned, spokesperson Kafle said, “We have not yet received any information about further decisions.”

Former Prime Minister Oli, who has undergone two kidney transplant surgeries, has undergone health evaluations at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

Spokesperson Kafle stated that the legal process will proceed according to the medical reports and doctors’ advice.
