
Nepal Army Team Crowned Champion at 25th ITF Taekwondo National Championship
The Nepal Army team secured the championship title by winning 19 gold medals at the 25th ITF Taekwondo National Championship. Suman Marasinghe Magar and Rina Dhimal of the Army were declared the best players of the tournament. In the U-15 ITF competition, Bagmati Province claimed first place. Kathmandu, 6th Baishakh.
The two-day event, organized by the Nepal International Taekwondo Federation (NITF) and held at the covered hall of the National Sports Council (RAC) in Tripureshwor, saw the Army team emerge as champions by earning 19 gold, 4 silver, and 9 bronze medals. Bagmati Province secured the second position with 7 gold, 10 silver, and 9 bronze medals, while the Armed Police Force (APF) achieved third place with 4 gold, 7 silver, and 6 bronze medals.
Individually, Army athletes delivered outstanding performances. Suman Marasinghe Magar was named best male player, and Rina Dhimal was honored as best female player. Suman won 3 gold medals, whereas Rina took home 5 gold medals. Athletes competed across various categories, including individual sparring, individual patterns, team sparring, team patterns, and self-defense.
Meanwhile, in the second U-15 ITF competition, Bagmati finished first, Lumbini second, and Karnali Province third. Bagmati secured 9 gold, 5 silver, and 7 bronze medals; Lumbini earned 4 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze; and Karnali took 4 gold, 5 silver, and 7 bronze medals. In the U-15 category, Sachin Kumal from Gandaki was declared the best male player, and Aakriti Nepal from Bagmati was named the best female player. More than 200 players participated in patterns and sparring events across junior and senior levels, according to federation president Praveen Kumar Karki. The competition featured a total of nine teams, including all seven provinces of Nepal along with the Nepal Army and the Armed Police Force (APF).
