
Gradual Weather Improvement Expected, Rainfall Possible Until Friday
April 30, Kathmandu – The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has announced that the weather will gradually improve starting today. However, there is still a possibility of rain in some areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces until this Friday. Meteorologists have noted that this seasonal rainfall will not be as widespread as it was yesterday, April 29. Western winds and local atmospheric conditions caused rainfall over many parts of the country on Tuesday and Wednesday, including some areas experiencing heavy downpours.
In the past 24 hours, Hanspur in Pyuthan recorded the highest rainfall with 104.6 millimeters, while Rivan in Kaski measured 81 millimeters. The Department’s Weather Forecasting Division indicates that rain may continue in certain areas today as well.
On April 30, some locations in Koshi and Madhesh provinces, as well as in the Himalayan and hilly regions, and a few parts of the Terai, may experience moderate to light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Tonight, moderate rain or snowfall is also expected in some parts of the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, along with scattered areas elsewhere.
On Friday, May 1, cloud cover is anticipated across the hilly and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim will experience partly cloudy skies. There is a chance of moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning in some Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi province, a few parts of Madhesh, and one or two locations in the Terai of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
