National Sports Council Issues Warning to Sports Associations to Renew Registrations by July 30 or Face Cancellation

The National Sports Council (NSC) has directed sports associations to renew their registrations by Ashad 15 (July 30) this year. The NSC has warned that failure to renew by this deadline will lead to cancellation proceedings in accordance with prevailing laws. Out of the 75 registered sports associations, 33 have yet to complete their renewal, including the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).

Although the NSC has repeatedly issued renewal notices under the National Sports Development Act, 2077, and its regulations of 2079, implementation has been lacking. Consequently, the council has extended the deadline to Ashad 15 while reiterating the warning. The NSC has clarified that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe will result in cancellation procedures per legal provisions.

According to the notice published on the NSC website, 33 of the 75 registered associations have not renewed their registrations yet. Notably, the well-known Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is among those who have not completed the process. Associations seeking renewal must submit their annual report, constitution, future plans, audited financial statements, and certificates proving the completion of at least one national-level competition. However, many associations have been unable to provide all required documents, which has prevented them from renewing their registrations.
