Video of Butwal Metropolitan Employees Beating and Driving Cattle Viral on Social Media

Recently, a video has gone viral on social media showing the brutal beating of cattle. The footage depicts a crowd on the street driving and violently beating the cattle, showing a small calf with a broken leg struggling to escape. Another bull attempts to flee the crowd but is struck repeatedly with sticks by people, as if it were an inanimate object.

The video also shows a crowd of onlookers observing the cruelty with some recording it on their mobiles while security personnel watch seemingly entertained by the scene. There appears to be no intervention to stop this abuse of defenseless animals. This video has sparked intense criticism on social media, with many condemning the actions of Butwal Metropolitan Municipality employees as criminal.

In the video, Chief of the Metropolitan City, Khel Raj Pandey, is seen announcing a campaign to drive away cattle. He called on local residents to participate from 7 AM onwards and stated that the campaign will continue until the 7th of the month. While stray cattle cause disruptions on roads, many argue that managing this issue should not involve beating the animals. It has been suggested that the proper management of abandoned cattle left on the streets, which are unfit for consumption, should be prioritized without resorting to cruelty.
