May 21, Kathmandu – Nepali Congress MP Sunil Bahadur Thapa has accused the government of operating bulldozers in squatter settlements based on personal ego without formulating any long-term plans.
He stated that the government is violating human rights while running bulldozers to increase its popularity.
“Currently, bulldozer terror is not limited to Kathmandu but has spread across the country. The government recently decided to provide displaced families with 15,000 and 30,000 rupees. What is the purpose of this?” he asked.
Speaking at the joint meeting of the Public Policy and Appropriation Legislation Committee and the Federalization Strengthening and National Interest Committee on Thursday, he highlighted the widespread bulldozer terror nationwide.
He also questioned the government’s decision to give 15,000 and 30,000 rupees to displaced families, noting that mental counseling is necessary for individuals in the holding centers.
“The government itself says it has no money. It claims there is no money, yet continues to distribute funds. Is this only to temporarily appease the squatters? How many ministers have actually visited the holding centers so far?” he questioned.
