May 29, Kathmandu — US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant has emphasized the significant role that military operations and economic pressure have played in bringing Iran to the negotiating table.
Amid ongoing talks concerning a potential agreement between the United States and Iran, Secretary Besant acknowledged the important influence of military actions combined with economic sanctions in pressuring Iran toward dialogue.
He further noted that the process of easing sanctions imposed on Iran and releasing its frozen assets is expected to proceed at a considerably slow pace.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Thursday, Secretary Besant highlighted how the United States and its allies have created pressure on Iran through a combination of military measures and stringent economic sanctions, compelling Tehran to engage in negotiations.
He indicated that prospects for reaching an agreement between the US and Iran are improving. Nonetheless, the final decision rests with US President Donald Trump.
