
GPS and CCTV Installed on Buses Heading East from Kathmandu; Online Ticketing System Launched
GPS systems and CCTV cameras have been installed on 81 public vehicles operating eastward from Kathmandu’s New Bus Park. Purba Transport Management Pvt. Ltd. has also launched an online ticketing system to enhance convenience for travelers to the eastern region. The company is preparing to implement a ‘luggage tag’ system on its buses soon. Most public transportation traveling from Kathmandu to eastern destinations is now equipped with CCTV cameras, and tickets can be purchased online. Following government directives mandating GPS and CCTV installation on all public vehicles, Purba Transport Management Pvt. Ltd. has completed the installation of these systems on all vehicles operating eastbound from Kathmandu’s New Bus Park.
Rajan Rokka, Chairperson of Purba Transport Management Pvt. Ltd., confirmed that GPS and CCTV cameras are installed on 81 public vehicles running to various eastern destinations from the New Bus Park. Since Shrawan 2080 B.S., public vehicles servicing Kathmandu to the eastern region have been consolidated under one company. This company currently operates transportation services to locations including Tehrathum, Taplejung, Khandbari, Kakarbhitta, Bhadrapur, Dharan, Biratnagar, Madhumalla, Gauriganj, Baniyani, Gaighat, Ilam, Pashupatinagar, Katahari, Janakpur, Rajbiraj, and Viratnagar.
Rajendra Bahadur Thapa, the company’s director, stated that Purba Transport Management Pvt. Ltd. has successfully implemented the government’s plan. He also noted that the ‘luggage tag’ system will be introduced on company buses soon. Additionally, the company has activated an online ticketing system to benefit travelers in the eastern region.
