June 1, Kathmandu – A man claiming to be a member of parliament was arrested after exerting undue pressure on traffic police officers.

Lok Bahadur Tamang of Majhitar, Ward No. 7, Kamalamai Municipality, Sindhuli, claiming himself to be Dhanendra Karki, the elected representative of Sindhuli-1 constituency, was detained by police for calling traffic police and various individuals to exert pressure and influence administrative procedures improperly.

According to Police Inspector Ujwal Karki, Tamang was arrested on May 28 and is currently under investigation for charges of misconduct. The District Administration Office of Sindhuli has granted a 7-day period for inquiry.
