
Dalbahadur Kunwar and Manju Rawat Crowned Winners of Annapurna Marathon
The champions of the sixth Annapurna Marathon are Dalbahadur Kunwar and Manju Rawat from Jumla. The Annapurna Century Tourism Committee organized the race on Wednesday to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the first Annapurna Himalayan ascent. The winners each received NPR 150,000 in cash along with trophies, medals, and certificates.
The marathon covered a distance of 42.195 kilometers, starting from the Annapurna Base Camp. Dalbahadur completed the course in 4 hours, 4 minutes, and 11 seconds. Tilak Bahadur Sunuwar of the Nepali Army secured second place with a time of 4 hours, 10 minutes, and 8 seconds, while Sachin Gurung finished third in 4 hours, 49 minutes, and 12 seconds.
On the women’s side, Manju Rawat from Jumla completed the distance in 6 hours, 14 minutes, and 19 seconds. Rajyalaxmi Rawal and Kalpana Budha, both also from Jumla, took second and third places respectively, finishing in 6 hours, 56 minutes, 25 seconds and 6 hours, 56 minutes, and 0 seconds.
The male and female winners were awarded NPR 150,000, along with trophies, medals, and certificates. The runners-up received NPR 100,000, and third-place finishers were awarded NPR 75,000, accompanied by trophies, medals, and certificates.
Held under the theme “Tourism for All Seasons,” the marathon commenced at an elevation of 4,130 meters at Annapurna Base Camp. The route passed through Machapuchare Base Camp, Deurali, Himalaya, Dobhan, Sinuwa, Bamboo, Chumrong, Tolhu, Ghurjung, Chuhile, Melanchhe, Komrongdanda, and concluded at the sports field of Meshram Barah Secondary School in Ghandruk.
