Indian National Arrested at Gautam Buddha Airport with Nearly 800,000 Indian Rupees

An Indian citizen was arrested at Gautam Buddha International Airport carrying 795,000 Indian rupees. Bhima Srinivas, a 59-year-old from India, was detained during a security check at the domestic terminal while boarding a Buddha Air flight to Kathmandu. The confiscated currency and Srinivas have been handed over to the District Police Office in Rupandehi for further investigation, police officials stated. The incident took place on June 7 in Siddharthanagar (Bhairahawa).

While departing for Kathmandu from Gautam Buddha International Airport, Bhima Srinivas, originally from Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, India, was found in possession of the money during an X-ray screening of hand luggage at the domestic terminal prior to his Buddha Air flight.

According to police reports, 1,590 notes of 500 Indian rupees each were recovered from a brown handbag carried by Srinivas. The total confiscated amount is 795,000 Indian rupees. Bhupendra Bahadur Khatri, Chief of the Lumbini Province Police Office and Deputy Inspector General of Police, confirmed that Srinivas has been taken into custody and necessary investigations have commenced.

Sharad Prasad Chaudhary, Public Information Officer and Senior Superintendent of Police at the Lumbini Province Police Office, stated that the detained individual and the seized cash have been transferred to the District Police Office in Rupandehi for further investigation.
