Leader Poon Expresses Concern That RASWAPA May Withdraw over Federalism and Inclusion Issues

June 16, Kathmandu – Leader Barsaman Pun of the Nepal Communist Party has expressed concerns that the current government and the ruling party may withdraw from commitments to federalism, inclusion, and community-based linguistic and cultural rights. Speaking at an event held in Deukhuri, Dang, on the occasion of the Magar community’s Bhume festival, Pun stated that any attempt to curtail the rights attained by the people under the guise of constitutional amendments would be unacceptable.

He warned that if efforts were made to revoke the political achievements won through the long sacrifices and struggles of the Nepali people, such actions would be firmly rejected. While acknowledging that agendas raised before the enactment of the constitution in 2015 that remained unaddressed could still be incorporated, he emphasized that any attempt to deprive people of rights already gained must never be tolerated.

Pun highlighted that the People’s War, which began in 1996 (2052 BS), uplifted oppressed communities and brought social awakening. He asserted that safeguarding the rights won is their responsibility as well. As the government forms working groups to debate constitutional amendments, he issued a clear warning that the state must not retreat from the rights acquired by the people.
