Former Director General of Civil Aviation Authority, Gautam, Sent to Jail

June 16, Kathmandu – Sanjiv Gautam, the former Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, has been remanded to custody. On Tuesday, a panel of judges Narayan Prasad Paudel, Hemant Rawal, and Dilliratna Shrestha at the Special Court issued an order to keep Gautam in pretrial detention. Gautam was implicated in the corruption case involving the construction of Pokhara Airport. Along with then-director Pradeep Adhikari, Gautam was charged by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). The CIAA demanded recovery of NPR 67,399,648.59 from Gautam and prosecution seeking punishment. Following the court’s decision, Gautam has been ordered into custody. Pradeep Adhikari had already been sent to jail earlier.
