Apple Music in iOS 27 Introduces Artist Pages, Siri AI, and Faster Streaming Features
Following significant changes in Apple Music with iOS 26, Apple has implemented a few focused yet meaningful improvements in iOS 27. After the WWDC 2026 keynote, the company announced minor updates, while developers discovered subtle enhancements in the first iOS 27 beta. This latest update centers on revamped artist pages, faster song playback, and enhancements to the Liquid Glass user interface.
Apple Music users have long expressed concerns over inconsistencies in the cross-platform experience, lack of social features, and difficulties measuring artist and song popularity. While iOS 27 does not entirely resolve these issues, it introduces innovative features aimed at improving the streaming service. After iOS 26 brought a new user interface for playlists and albums, Apple has redesigned artist pages in iOS 27. Now, names of renowned artists like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lady Gaga will appear in custom fonts.
The same page includes a larger play button, which, when tapped, automatically starts playing their top songs. To highlight new releases by artists, a banner has been placed at the top of the page. Another notable addition is Siri AI support. Through the new AI-powered assistant, users will be able to ask Siri about any artist or song. Additionally, Siri can be commanded to play songs recommended by friends via messages received weeks prior.
However, this personal assistant still cannot fully replicate the ‘Playlist Playground’ feature, which remains available only in the United States. Regarding visual enhancements, users will be able to choose between translucent or tinted experiences, and pressing and holding certain buttons will reveal new visual menus.
In the realm of enhanced automix and reliable streaming, Apple reports improvements to automix transitions and overall streaming stability in iOS 27. The automix feature operates like a smart DJ, providing dynamic transitions between songs.
The new transitions added in iOS 27 claim to manage various music genres more effectively. Arguably the most significant upgrade to Apple Music is more dependable streaming. Apple’s primary goal is to make actions like launching apps, using AirDrop, or downloading photos faster and more seamless. In this context, tapping any song in Apple Music now initiates immediate playback, which should reduce previous issues with slow response and delayed feedback.
