Over 9,000 Displaced and Schools Closed Due to Heavy Rainfall in China
Authorities announced on Tuesday that more than 9,100 residents have been instructed to relocate to safe areas due to intense rainfall across various regions of Guizhou Province in southwestern China. In response to the affected areas, the city of Duyun in the Bouyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Qiannan declared an emergency flood control situation on Tuesday morning and ordered the closure of schools.
So far, there have been no reports of casualties or property damage caused by the flooding. The heavy rain has disrupted power supply in certain parts of the province, and over 1,000 power grid maintenance workers have been deployed to restore electricity.
According to the provincial meteorological department, since Monday through Tuesday, more than 20 county-level areas in the province have experienced intense rainfall, with rainfall exceeding 200 millimeters in four locations.
