‘The General Convention Has Established an Ideological Foundation; We Will Take on Greater Responsibility’
The first general convention of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSwP) has set the party’s ideological, political, and organizational direction alongside electing new leadership. Over the course of the week-long convention, new central members and office bearers were chosen. In this context, newly elected General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya spoke with Dinesh Gautam, stating, “To be honest, this result and its gravity have not been fully realized yet. As I have said before, being the elected General Secretary of a major party in the country is an extremely serious responsibility in itself.”
Sharing his experience from the convention, Acharya said, “The convention was planned to be completed in three days, but it extended to nearly a week. It can be broadly divided into three parts. In the first part, we witnessed unprecedented enthusiasm among the RSwP members.” He added, “In the second part, our managerial weaknesses became apparent. There was a lack of a robust plan for conducting the program.”
Acharya emphasized, “The convention plays a crucial role in institutionalizing the party and providing democratic legitimacy. While managerial shortcomings were observed at this convention, it remains an important milestone.” He highlighted that the party’s political and ideological line has been clarified, stating, “RSwP will now advance by embracing the core principles and values of ‘social democracy’.”
Regarding the final document of the party statute, Acharya informed, “Since the convention has just concluded, we are currently in the process of printing it.” He also mentioned that a PDF version will be made available on the party’s official website and mobile app.
