Sonam Wangchuk Begins Indefinite Hunger Strike in Delhi

Social and environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk has commenced an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to protest the leak of the NIT undergraduate exam paper. Abhijit Deepak, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), accused the Delhi police of failing to provide Wangchuk with water and sanitation facilities, alleging non-cooperation.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation is being demanded by the CJP, which has stated that Wangchuk’s hunger strike will continue until the minister steps down. The protest by Wangchuk is a direct response against the NIT UG paper leak.

After Wangchuk began the hunger strike, Abhijit Deepak posted on social media platform Instagram accusing the Delhi police of withholding support. He stated, “Following Sonam Wangchuk’s announcement of the hunger strike, the Delhi police have stopped sanitation services at Jantar Mantar. There is neither water provision nor sanitation facilities.” He added, “Despite repeated requests and concerns about Wangchuk’s health, the police have not cooperated. We fear that other basic amenities may also be withdrawn. What is the police’s plan?”
